The 2014 SRNA Family Camp Experience

The trip to Kentucky for SRNA camp in July was literally just what the doctor ordered. After a month in the hospital in May, and having to cancel Ty’s Make-a-Wish trip in early June to Hawaii due to his illness, our trip in July couldn’t come soon enough! Having to drive from Colorado with five kids in the car wouldn’t seem like a blessing, but sharing stories on the way home from camp made the drive home fly by. We talked about Ty on horseback (which none of us thought he would be able to do), the wonderful pizza’s we made during our cooking classes and our Christmas ornaments we just unpacked! His favorite part may have been the mealtimes… helping to bring out the food and clean up or just the chance to meet some new people like kids to at other camps all summer long.

Ty spent those few days in Kentucky as just another camper and that is probably the most meaningful thing we took away as parents along with some fantastic advice some very wonderful doctors and nurses.
