On Friday, July 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (MST), we will host a virtual support group meeting using Zoom.

Our featured guest for this meeting is LA Campbell from Barrow Neurological Institute.

LA Campbell, PT, DPT, MBA, MSCS, is the Rehab Program Coordinator at Barrow Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center. She will use this time to discuss stress and stress-reducing techniques – including meditation practice.

The schedule for this meeting is as follows:

• Education regarding the impact of stress (physical and emotional) on pain, fatigue, and overwhelm, and motivation (10 min)
• Impact of meditation and clinical hypnosis on brain and the autonomic nervous system (10 min)
• Practice: Breath Work: a simple form of meditation that anyone can learn to do (10 min)
• Experience: A Short Guided Meditation: the opportunity to feel the impact of meditation on your body and mind (20 min)
• Questions (10 min or more if there is time)

We hope to have these meetings on a weekly basis to accommodate our entire community. We are also working on securing dates for guest speakers from our medical council. Once those dates are finalized, we will announce them in future emails.

Here are the details for this online support group meeting on stress and stress-reduction techniques – including meditation. 

First, make sure your computer, tablet, or phone is compatible with Zoom.

Also, please make sure you mute yourself when you are not speaking. The presenter is able to mute and unmute attendees, but it is easier if we all work together to ensure there is no background noise. Along those same lines, we recommend using headphones if possible. It helps eliminate feedback and makes it easier for attendees to hear more clearly.

Zoom allows for video and audio options. You are welcome to join via your computer and webcam device, tablet, or you can simply call in via phone. There is no requirement to turn on your camera if you do not want to.
