Happy New Year From SRNA
As we approach the end of another year, we want to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude to our incredible community. Thank you for being a part of SRNA this year!
There are so many moments in 2023 to celebrate. This year, at a new venue in San Antonio, we hosted 20 families at our annual Quality of Life Family Camp, 9 of those attending for the first time. Over 400 community members participated in 71 support group meetings. Our Peer Connect Leaders offered support and found friendship through 31 peer connections. Thanks to the passion of six volunteer hosts, over 200 community members and their families joined us for 4 walk-run-n-rolls across the United States, raising over $29,500 for the rare neuroimmune disorders community. Our annual Rare Neuroimmune Disorders Symposium (RNDS) expanded into a three-part series including an in-person regional event in Dallas, Texas, followed by a virtual symposium in November, and capped off the year with our first Spanish RNDS at the beginning of December. Finally, we were proud to produce 14 “Ask the Expert” podcast episodes, featuring over 20 incredible medical professionals.
2024 will mark an important milestone for us—30 years of dedication to improving the quality of life of those diagnosed with ADEM, AFM, MOGAD, NMOSD, ON, and TM. Together, we continue to expand our education, research, and community programs, and make a meaningful difference. “We have begun our 30th year. The Transverse Myelitis Association was founded in the year Pauline was diagnosed with TM. It was a nightmare and life altering for Pauline and for me. None of what you are going through is ever lost on me, as I had a front row seat watching all the challenges Pauline experienced for so many years. I am the first to applaud all the strides people make in their recoveries, as well as all the progress we make in understanding and treating these disorders. I also am among the first to acknowledge the sadness and the suffering.” shares SRNA President, Sandy Siegel.
Thank you again for being a part of the SRNA community this year. Whether you have participated in one of our events, reached out to our helpline for information, listened to our podcasts, or connected with a peer mentor, we are here for you.
However you are celebrating this year, we wish you a peaceful, happy, and safe holiday season.
