Become a Guest Speaker on a Podcast

Community Meets Clinic is a podcast series in which SRNA invites providers to share their personal journeys into becoming healthcare professionals and how they came to serve the rare neuroimmune community. We interview physicians, nurses, social workers, rehabilitation specialists, and all healthcare specialists who provide care and support to patients with rare neuroimmune disorders.

The goal of this podcast is to assist community members with getting to know the featured healthcare professionals and clinics in a real and personable way. The podcast helps those diagnosed with rare neuroimmune disorders looking for care, know the providers in the rare neuroimmune field, and understand their experience, research interests, and how providers work together with their patients and families. The podcast series also helps providers connect with the community through sharing their stories. Healthcare professionals join the podcast to discuss their educational and professional interests, their medical center, and their journey working with rare neuroimmune patients.

In the latest Community Meets Clinic episode, Dr. Paula Barreras shared about her journey into neuroimmunology, emphasizing the impact of patient interactions. She discussed how her early research focused on misdiagnoses in disorders like transverse myelitis, later expanding to neurosarcoidosis, aiming to improve diagnostic accuracy. Finally, she explained how Cedars-Sinai’s multidisciplinary clinic utilizes specialists to offer comprehensive care, aiming to address patients’ various needs efficiently.
